SSCos - School Sports Co-ordinators - A New challenge for a New Academic Year?

Schools will soon be recruiting for SSCos to start in September and if you are a Primary or Secondary PE Specialist looking for a change of direction this could be just what you are looking for.

SSCo positions can be Full or Part-time positions and depending on the School, and School Sports Partnership, the role may involve varying amounts of PE Teaching time as part of your working week. Working as part of a Team under the management of a Partnership Development Manager (PDM) the role of an SSCo can be very varied and can offer a degree of flexibility as the role offers the chance to work outside the constraints of the school timetable. Extensive Training would be available to teach you how to succeed in this role and there is considerable ongoing CDP for SSCos.

The ideal applicant for a SSCo position would be a Secondary or Primary trained PE Specialist. They would be keen to embark on a new challenge which will give them scope for immense personal achievement and job satisfaction, providing opportunities to work on their own initiative as well as part of a cohesive team.

SSCo positions are pivotal to the Government's strategy to increase opportunities and raise standards in PE and Sport in Schools. It is an exciting project that will enable the teacher to work with a variety of pupils from KS1-4 plus Sports Clubs and Community groups.

Extensive training will be available to teach you how to succeed in the role and a comprehensive programme of CPD will allow you to develop considerably throughout the role Whilst the role is vastly different to that of a full time teacher it is no less demanding, but allows the incumbent to work with more flexibility, without the constraints of a teaching timetable.
